Millennium Development Goal 6 calls for progress combating AIDS and other diseases. Botswana had one of the highest rates of HIV infection in the world. Choosing to address the problem head-on, the country is now held up as an example to the rest of the world, demonstrating that a country can get its HIV infection rates down while also helping those living with the disease to live healthy and productive lives.
